Back to Work!
With business back in session after summer's hiatus, we find ourselves quite busy with all sorts of exciting projects including newsletters, corporate branding and of course new website projects. Web design & development, over the last couple of years has become a larger part of our business. In addition to our client's projects, we are increasingly called upon to help other designers and agencies with their web projects. The following are some highlights of September and October 2009:
Self Storage Depot (www.selfstoragedepot.ca):
A new website launched Oct 2/09 featuring full colour photography of Self Storage Depot's facilities, service options and a locations section that incorporates Google Maps to help visitors find the nearest location. The new design allowed us to have fun with the project and play on the theme of packing materials, labels, clip boards and other items common to storage facilities. An important aspect of this project was to provide search engine optimization so that the website ranks high on search engines for specific terms. In the course of the project we optimized the site for search engines, submitted it to the top engines and included Google/Yahoo xml sitemaps and Analytics services. According to early reports, the site is averaging 106 verified visits per day with 40% coming from search engines using search terms the site was optimized for.
Profile Design Group (www.profiledesigngrp.com):
Working with designer Linda Mitsui, we provided web development services to produce the new and improved Profile Design website which showcases a selection of her best work and includes search engine optimization, xml sitemaps and Analytics. The challenge with this website was to center the site and provide a bleed on the upper right and another on the lower left so that the site would fill the screen regardless of the resolution or screen size. We also had to get tricky with the background images on many of the portfolio pages. We are all very pleased with the results, especially Profile Design.
DC Duby Chocolate & Sweets (www.dcduby.com):
Oct 15/09, we re-launched the Chocolate Boutique on the DC Duby website with an entirely new selection of chocolates and sweets. Design was provided by Linda Mitsui of Profile Design and photography & video was provided by Dominique & Cindy of DC Duby Hospitality Services. Our task was to update the database and templating system of the custom eCommerce engine that we developed when we built the site.
Essmac Design + Illustration (www.essmac.com):
Sept 08/09, we launched the updated Essmac website with new projects that have been accomplished in the past year.
Also in the works are a new website for the Carmana Plaza Hotel, Longview Communications, Mephisto Shoes and The Planning Institute of BC.
